MIOCENE CRAB CLAW CONCRETION

MIOCENE CRAB LEG SEGMENTS

This was a partially exposed fossil crab part, You can see the darker coloration of the un-weathered portion of the fossil that has been mechanically exposed.

We had a wonderful drive the rest of the way to Spruce Pine. We decided to see a bit of the Blue Ridge Parkway between Asheville and Spruce Pine despite the impending rain. It turned out to be a very interesting sixty mile drive along the Parkway with rain, fog, and even clouds! With the humidity levels, it was a lesson in cloud building as they formed low in the valleys and rose up and over the Parkway. We even had a thunderstorm develop at near eye-level on the west side of the Parkway with thunder, lightening, and rain.
